Our Team

Christopher Krohe, CEO/Owner

Chris prides himself on his role as the driving force and guide behind our business. It is his intention to create a company that balances faith and family, adheres to our core values, and constantly serves our clients and investors. For nearly 20 years Chris has worked in the real estate and construction industry throughout Chicagoland. In that time he has executed hundreds of real estate transactions, built numerous construction projects, managed 100+ real estate agents and helped his clients reach their individual goals.

Chris is also dedicated to being a devoted husband to his wife, Meg, and a loving father to his 4 wonderful children. A resident of Western Springs, he continues to be very active in many sports, outdoor adventures, coaching, cooking and traveling. He has a passion for helping others and has volunteered at Hepizbah Children’s Association in Oak Park, has built houses for Habitat for Humanity, is an Elder at his church and is an active member on several committees and boards.

A: “How do you pick just one? I love food, beer and of course a good whiskey!”

What’s your favorite holiday?

A: “It would be a tie between Christmas and Easter. They are the beginning and end of the greatest gift ever given to me.”

What are your favorite hobbies?

A: “Who has time for a hobby?”

What’s your all-time favorite book?

A: “My current favorite is Red Notice by Bill Browder, a book “based on a true story of high finance, murder and one man’s fight for justice.”

What’s a fun fact about yourself that people might not know?

A: “I was a 3 sport all-state athlete in HS and played basketball in college.”

Amanda Austin, Director of Operations

As Director of Operations, Amanda oversees the daily business activities at KrohVan. She is responsible for managing resources, developing and implementing operational plans, and ensuring that procedures are carried out efficiently.

Previous to joining KrohVan, Amanda worked in the software industry for over 25 years as a Sales and a Business Development Executive focused on creating strategic relationships with Fortune 500 companies and identifying profitable integration opportunities with partners in the technology industry.

A: “Sushi Ukai in La Grange. The owners Lily, Dong, and Anna are always so welcoming and treat us like family.”

What’s your favorite holiday?

A: “Thanksgiving! Besides enjoying the time together with our large family, I can never get enough of our family’s turkey and stuffing.”

What are your favorite hobbies?

A: “Skiing – my family goes to Colorado every winter. It’s become our favorite trip and it’s fun to ski together on the mountain.  We are also diehard Northwestern fans, and you can always find us tailgating at all the home football games. Go ‘Cats!”

What’s your all-time favorite book?

A: “I Will Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. It’s especially relevant as our oldest heads off to college in the fall.”

What’s a fun fact about yourself that people might not know?

A: “I got my motorcycle license 5 years ago.”

Mike Kaspar, Head of Development

Throughout his career, Mike has successfully master-leased medical office buildings, facilitated over 50 triple net leases for Walgreen drug stores, and managed countless projects with retailers such as Starbucks, Autozone, and Farmer Jack’s grocery stores. 

Mike’s vast industry expertise makes him perfect for handling aspects of both construction and tenant coordination at KrohVan. With a variety of responsibilities, he oversees the site selection and zoning approvals processes, coordinates building inspections, and manages teams of architects and engineers. He also handles tenant leases, move-in and turnover.

A: I love hiking, fishing, working in my yard, and sports.

What’s a fun fact about yourself that people might not know?

A: I’ve used 10 of my 9 lives…

Trevor Good, Property Manager

Trevor’s role: He fills apartments with wonderful tenants, making sure they have everything they need to live their best lives NOW! He serves as the point of contact for any issue a tenant may have. Trevor is passionate about helping people buy, sell, and invest in properties — single-family, multi-family, 2-flat condos, you name it!

A: “Greek Islands in downtown Chicago. Opa!”

A: “Thanksgiving — sometimes it falls on my birthday.”

A: “Being a good dad, cooking for the family, cleaning, doing household repairs, and camping.”

A: “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King”

What’s a fun fact about yourself that people might not know?

A: I used to work as a commercial fisherman.

Derek Gabrys, Project Manager - Construction

Derek’s role: Derek manages many of KrohVan’s building projects, including reviewing blueprints and planning construction operations in order to minimize errors and avoid wasting materials. His ability to multitask and meaningfully analyze projects makes him the go-to for keeping projects on schedule and consulting with clients to ensure all of their needs are met — even if it means coordinating additional resources to meet your goals.

A: “It might be sacrilege in Chicago, but neither; I’m more of a soccer fan, so I’m always rooting for Bayern München!”

A: “I always love going to the Lone Star Steak House.”

A: “4th of July”

What are your favorite hobbies?

A: “My two favorite hobbies are photography and video gaming.”

A: “I’m a really big horror fan, so I’d have to say Necroscope by Brian Lumley.”

A: “I was, and sort of still am, a DJ.”

Steph Christian, Administrative Assistant

Steph’s focus is on keeping the office organized and ensuring our staff is connected to our clients and partners.  Steph works closely with our suppliers and contractors and any other new challenge the day brings!

A: “I’m passionate about animals, I was an apprentice dog trainer for Lutheran Church Charities for over 4 years, I have a fish pond in my yard and yes the fish have names, I LOVE to take our 5 grandkids on trips without their parents.”
